H3 LED bulbs - brighter and whiter light

H3 LED bulbs are a modern replacement for standard H3 bulbs for fog lights and auxiliary lights. They emit white light (usually 6000-6500 K), consume less energy and last many times longer than standard bulbs.

The bulb has a short body and a terminal wire, typical of older fog lights and auxiliary lighting. The base is PK22s, and the halogen version is 55 W - the LED version gives similar or stronger light at lower consumption.

How to choose an H3 LED bulb

Check the code on the old bulb or in the car manual. Pay attention to the size of the radiator and fan - with narrow headlights it is important that the bulb fits behind the cap. For cars with CANbus system, choose a model with a built-in decoder or add a load resistor to avoid errors on the dashboard and flashing.

Installation and legal requirements

The LED bulbs are installed in place of the standard ones without any changes to the headlight. For headlights on public roads, use only approved (homologated) products - some LED bulbs are intended for off-road use or for interior and additional lighting. Quality LED bulbs provide more light and a whiter color, but the final result also depends on the headlight. For reflector headlights, choose a model with thin LEDs arranged like the filament of a halogen bulb.

Do I need a CANbus decoder?

In most cars after 2008, the on-board computer monitors burned-out bulbs. If an error or flickering occurs, use a CANbus model or add a load resistor.
