D2S / D2R LED bulbs - brighter and whiter light

D2S LED bulbs are a modern replacement for standard D2S / D2R bulbs for xenon low beam. They emit white light (usually 6000-6500 K), consume less energy and last many times longer than standard bulbs.

D2S is for projector (lens) headlights, and D2R - for reflectors. The ignition unit is separate. The socket is P32d-2 / P32d-3, and the original xenon bulb has parameters 35 W / 85 V. The LED version does not require high voltage and lights up instantly with full brightness.

How to choose a D2S LED bulb

Check the code on the old bulb or in the car manual. Pay attention to the size of the radiator and fan - with narrow headlights it is important that the bulb fits behind the cap. For cars with CANbus system, choose a model with a built-in decoder or add a load resistor to avoid errors on the dashboard and flashing.

Installation and legal requirements

The LED bulbs are installed in place of the standard ones without any changes to the headlight. For headlights on public roads, use only approved (homologated) products - some LED bulbs are intended for off-road use or for interior and additional lighting. Does the LED bulb shine brighter than the halogen D2S?

Quality LED bulbs provide more light and a whiter color, but the final result also depends on the headlight. For reflector headlights, choose a model with thin LEDs arranged like the filament of a halogen bulb.

Do I need a CANbus decoder?

In most cars after 2008, the on-board computer monitors burned-out bulbs. If an error or flickering occurs, use a CANbus model or add a load resistor.
