What does viscosity 5W-30 mean?
The designation 5W-30 is according to the SAE J300 classification. The number 5 before the letter W indicates how easily the oil flows in the cold. The lower it is, the faster the oil reaches all parts of the engine during a cold start. The number 30 describes the viscosity at an operating temperature of about 100 °C. This is one of the most common viscosities for modern gasoline and diesel engines, including those with extended drain intervals.
